Matt`s Old Fashioned Burgers and Chili in Summerville

Great burgers and great service, they are usually a bit crowded though.

Came here with my husband and our kids for lunch. Everything we got was so so so good! The Big Daddy burger was phenomenal. We got the 3-way, chili cheese fries, and a patti melt to share. Everything we tried was fresh and hot. My favorite part is that they don't skimp on toppings. I looove me some extra cheesy stuff and they delivered! We also had really wonderful service. It was worth the 45 minute drive from Mount Pleasant. Will return for sure!

Fantastic! I highly recommend the Matt's Special burger. I'm not sure if it was due to the Covid times but the wait time was pretty long, about an hour, but it was so worth the wait. I told myself before I took a bite that if the food was amazing, I would give 4 stars because of the wait. However, the food was SO good, that it immediately bumped up to 5. I'll certainly be back! This quaint place near the railroad tracks was a great treat! I enjoyed mixing it up with the locals while chomping down on a delicious burger! Lunchtime was definitely an event with most seats taken, but still I ended up finding a spot right next to the cold AC. Their fries were very good as well as their fried okra (should make lil to go baggies of 'em). Several items on the menu I cannot wait to try. The manager was very nice and helpful with menu selections as well as the history of items on the menu itself. I'd definitely return. Thanks!

Waited for over 45 minutes and only got water brought to our table. We watched 2 other tables get their food delivered before ours with the same number of people in their parties. The one time the waitress came to check on the tables, the waitress completely passed our table and never once checked on us or filled our empty waters. There were not that many people in the whole restaurant or outside and I am confused how it could take so long to make a few burgers and some fries. Complete waste of my time waiting for the food here.

Very disappointed. We waited a very long time and we were very patient. I’m glad we weren’t in a rush. Then when we finally got our burger I couldn’t find the beef. WHERE’S THE BEEF? There was hardly any meat on these burgers. The burger was just loaded with fillers. They actually roll out the meat. I thought you patted the meat into patties. Won’t be going there again.

Amazing experience. Friendly staff and exceptional food. Had "the bomb" burger which is amazing, and can be turned into a food challenge. Seriously some of the best chili ive had.

I was in town for work and I like to try new places to eat. I thought the food was good the prices were not bad at all . The service was spot on. If I had to say anything negative about the place which it's not that badd considering I am a Southern kind of guy the sweet tea was not sweet enough for me. It would be your total Hometown feeling restaurant

Have been wanting to try this burger place ever since I moved here, finally got my chance to today. This really is the best burger in town by far, I will definitely come back again!!!

I was gonna do 4 stars, but it really was super good. Chili needs a little more heat, but aside from that this was a good move. Sux I'm in west Ashley, but that's not their fault.

Freaking juicy and amazing sausage and beef Burger blend one of the best burgers in this area. I Have had some pretty good handmade handcrafted burgers in Vegas and ATL and this compares very equally to them all maybe even a touch above Because of the sausage and Beef blend burger I had. The Matt's special is also a winner.

Matt’s burgers never lets me down. I always leave with a belly full of deliciousness and it’s got that great local feel.

I frequent this marvelous restaurant every couple of days since I enjoy the ambiance that is outline this place. The crew is awfuly cordial and experienced. The service is absolutely quick. Also, the food you eat is great. I visited many times and I was never disappointed. The pay is decent. I recommend this place to to everybody.

This was my first time here. I thoroughly enjoyed my veggie burger. The fried okra was some of the best I have eaten. I can't wait to go back and try something else. The staff were extremely helpful and nice. It's a small place inside but it makes you feel more welcome.

Very friendly staff, great burgers including the sausage burger which is 5 stars, great tea, and a good location. Prices are fair for the amount of food you get and quality. Only complaint is no AC so it gets super hot in the restaurant and outside is no better.

The chili cheese burger is the best I've ever had..They need a bigger place or another location as well because it's time to grow. I waited 45 mins to eat but it was worth it.👍🏼 Haven't had anyone say anything bad about the place after eating here.

What happened? First, the fries were hard as rock, overcooked, some break open and the grease came out! Your fries used to be good. The burger? Where? Got the jumbo. The meat had zero flavor and was literally not much thicker than the fork handle. What happened to the good fries and great flavored thick burgers? sigh Customer service was great though!

Kitschy local joint. Excellent food, but you gotta be on board with plastic trays and the like.The chili is seriously among the best anywhere. I've heard this from others too... Burgers are awesome but I usually get the chili and a grilled cheese.Pro tip: save room for dessert. Bring some kids so it won't look like you're ordering it for yourself ;-)

All of the burgers are good, but I recommend the bomb or the gaspar.

Small Burger joint! Big flavors! Burgers, chili, sweet tots, chili fries. Any combination of the above. Excellent food.

The Burgers here was fantastic. I had the sausage cheeseburger (a combination of ground beef and sausage). It was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. I also had some chili and the flavor was amazing with just enough bite. The staff was very friendly and very attentive. The dining space is a little small so the could be a wait during peak hours but wl worth it.

Fun little dive with hearty food. Not a place to come if you're on a diet. Cheap food and big portions.

The girls Caitlin and Delaney are the greatest , burgers are the best anywhere.The new AC is out of this world .

Excellent service. Wait staff was amazing. Hamburgers and sausage dog were both out of this world. Even though they were busy food came quickly. And I can't say enough how good the wait staff was.

I went here for the 1st time at lunch for a work meeting. Then I carried my family back for dinner the same evening. The service was great and food was amazing.

Delicious... We made a special trip all the way here to try one of these amazing burgers. Was well worth the trip. Prices are great and portion size is very good for the $$$. Even my kids loved it. If I was ever in Summerville SC again I'd definitely be interested in returning here for burgers. Maybe try another menu option next time like spaghetti or Frito pie. But the chili cheese fries and Matt's special burger was great.

Matt's is a staple of Summerville... best burger in town. If you haven't been, you can't claim the ville. They are always awesome and now have beer, too!

Pretty good food, but amazing service that's what makes it five stars. The team members there were on top of their game and refilled glasses prior to hitting the empty mark and without asking if you wanted a refill. Yummy burgers and tots.

I enjoyed Matt’s Burgers’ Bomb and Chili burger. The burger was covered in chili which was different but great! I tried their chili dog and sweet tots and I just wish my stomach was bigger.

Stopped here while visiting the area for vacation from Minnesota. Food was phenomenal and the atmosphere and staff were amazing. Couldn’t have asked for a better local spot for lunch.

We are visiting from Florida and this was some of the best burgers I've ever had. We were with our family and are here due to a death. Our family are regulars and it was so wonderful to see them be so kind to us during this difficult time. The service was great and we got our order fast. I highly recommend getting your burgers from here!

We ate there a year ago and it was just okay. Decided to try again today and french fries looked and tasted like they were left. In the frier since last night closing. Dried and full of grease. No potato left in them. My burger was just okay, but my husbands burger was full of salt. Service was great, the place is cute, but whom ever does the cooking should let the customer do the salting of their food.

Food was so so. Ordered baked ziti and got spaghetti. Was told that they ran out of ziti after the fact. The right thing to do was to let us know then give us a chance to order something else.

The best hamburgers you’ll eat in the area. That’s all there is to it. The hot dogs are delicious too. Service is great and they even have out door seating! Definitely a rare gem in the downtown area. You can’t beat the prices either. My hamburger joint of choice in the Summerville area hands down.
